Fabbrica Energie Rinnovabili Alternative led the team who won the possibility to develop the FREeSUN project.
The FREeSUN project studies a system based on concentrated solar power technology (CSP), which consists in sunbeams reflection through Fresnel mirrors.
The team, coordinated by FERA, is made of Companies (such as IMAT SpA-Marcegaglia Group, Almeco SpA, SDI automazione industriale S.r.l., Xeliox S.r.l., Turbocoating S.p.A., DNA Engineering), Universities and research centres (CNR, Politecnico di Milano, Università degli Studi di Genova, Università degli Studi di Catania, Università degli Studi di Firenze).
The Companies and the research facilities will mainly deal with the developing of components of the system, while FERA’s task will consist in planning and building the related industrial plant.

The FREeSUN project aims at achieving the following three goals:
- the development of concentrated solar power technology, keeping the realization costs low;
- the building of a plant with a nominal power up to 1 MW;
- the creation of an Italian supply chain aimed at industrializing CSP systems.
