the wind farm in Pontinvrea (Savona)
The wind farm takes place in the Southern-east of the build-up area of Pontinvrea (Savona), in the so-called Rocca Ghingherina area. The lay-out of the plant covers a linear extension of about 550 m., and it is at 770 m. above sea-level, entirely inside the Pontinvrea Municipality.
The project for the plant is entirely designed by FERA, which also coordinated its building and will manage its maintenance.
Companies which are leader in the European market with regard to their specific sectors have been involved during each setting-up phase.
The Company carried out numerous intervention aimed at improving the site.
Among these, the electric cabin and the underground conduit pipe which allows the elimination of a MT/BT transformer and the dismantling of three high-tension pylon belonging to Enel, with relative 300 m of air power line.
This will mitigate visual impact and reduce the electromagnetic field.
The construction is completed: four Enercon E-53 turbines with a power of 800 kW each.
Enercon E-53 turbines are an innovative technology: they consist of blades properly designed to maximise wind exploitation, gearless, variable speed turbine, with remote monitoring and control systems.

Energy annual production is estimated about 6500 MWh: according to data collected by the GRTN (Gestore Rete di Trasmissione Nazionale – the Italian Manager for the Energy Network) the Wind Farm can entirely supply Pontinvrea inhabitants. Considering the increase in energetic demand calculated on an yearly basis by GRTN, the four hubs of the Wind Farm will provide the required energy to the Pontinvrea community till 2035.
Benefits in terms of greenhouse gas emissions avoided are consequently significant and can be quantified in t/year as follow:

Pontinvrea Municipality, thanks to FERA’s wind farm, actively contributes to the respect of the Kyoto General Agreement and represents a virtuous example for the energetic sustainability.
