How to build a wind farm
The first activities to set up so as to create a wind farm are engineering works, that means building and/or adapting existing roads in order to let transport means and machines pass by.
Then, it is possible to build the foundations and to install underground cables.
Turbines used up to now are the E48 produced by Enercon, a leader company in aerogenerators planning and production.
Turbines are mounted on towers of different height, according to aerogenerator models, between 40 and 50 mt.
The main phases of a wind farm creation can be summoned up in the following macro activities:
- Individuation of a site with wind potential.
- Installation of an anemometer: screening according to historical and current wind data, as well as data analysis
- Feasibility studies: geological investigations, orographic evaluation of the chosen territory, avifauna monitoring, environmental impact assessment
- Lay-out definition and planning of the station
- Engineering works start-up (roads)
- Platform building
- Pylons mounting
- Laying and turbine installation
- Power station completion
- Building of a transformation station, conduits, control room
- Activities of maintenance and assistance
