Tocco di Vento (Pe)
-
1992 – the first Italian Wind Farm:
Tocco da Casauria (Pescara) was the first district to build a wind farm on its territory, with 2 aerogenerators of 200 kW each, breaking the record of the first oil well drilling in Italy (1863).
-
2006 – the new Wind Farm:
After the first experiences, which put Tocco in the forefront of wind energy use, and to the considerable technological advances in the last 15 years, Tocco’s wind farm was completely renewed, with 2 new aerogenerators, the Enercon’s E48, which represent the state of the art in world wind technology.
Today, the farm produces 4,000,000 di kW/h, enough to cover all Tocco’s civil needs.
Now Tocco da Casauria is fully supplied by renewable energies.
- Engineering works:
Engineering works were executed by a local firm, Santilli e Breda, in only 3 months. Thanks to these works, the municipality could adapt roads to machine’s transportation and prepare the sites for the foundations. Foundations were executed by WKA, world leader in this field, in only 2 weeks.
- Transport:
Exceptional transports – more than 5 mt wide and 25 mt long – were entrusted to La Molisana, an Italian company specialized in aerogenerators transport.
- Mounting:
Mounting was completed in 12 days by Carmine Scurti company, an Italian firm located in Abruzzo, specialized in wind towers mounting.
- Environment:
Special attention was paid to Farm completion, in particular to the rehabilitation of the area situated beneath the aerogenerators, not only replacing the olive trees removed in 1992, but also starting off a new olive oil production FERA is particularly proud of and that is offered every year to its customers. The oil comes from fields cultivated according organic agriculture principles, hand picked and cold-pressed in Tocco’s old oil mill.
- Inauguration:
The Wind Farm was inaugurated on April 24th 2007, before Mr. Gianfranco Pinti, Tocco da Casauria’s Mayor, Mr. Giuseppe De Dominicis, President of the Province, Mr. Ottaviano del Turco, President of the Regional Council, and before the civil, military, religious authorities, as well as the primary and secondary school’s representatives.
