Santa Luce

Santa Luce Wind Farm

Thirteen 1.8 MW VESTAS V100 wind turbines, with a total installed power of 23.4 MW.

Santa Luce is the largest constructed wind farm in Tuscany.

The wind farm is located in the Municipality of Santa Luce, covering certain areas of property owned by the Region.

Constructed in just eight months, the Santa Luce Wind Farm was the first wind farm in Italy to use the advanced, high performance VESTAS V100 turbine model.

The turbines are situated within a large wooded area, which is crossed by paths and roads providing access to various farms and attractive farm accommodation sites.

The procedure for granting use of the regional property was conceived ad hoc, and involvement, on behalf of the Municipality, also included the University of Pisa.

In 2010, the Municipality of Santa Luce won the Klimaenergy Award for “A Varied and Inclusive Energy Plan”, of which the wind farm has been a key element.

In 2013, due to the existence of the wind farm, the environmental association Legambiente included Santa Luce in its report on “Renewable Municipalities” that make significant contributions to regional renewable energy production.
