FERA SRL – FABBRICA ENERGIE RINNOVABILI ALTERNATIVE IS A PARTNER in THE PROJECT “ENERGY FOR MALAWI”, Promoted by COOPI – International COOPERATION
The project, promoted by COOPI – International Cooperation, aims to extend access to electricity for 14,900 people, including farmers and small businessmen, in the poorest rural regions of southern Malawi, through modern, accessible and sustainable energy sources, and the installation of plants for the exploitation of renewable energy.
The project was launched in 2011 and concluded in 2015. Among the objectives are the slowdown of deforestation, the improvement of the quality of life of communities involved and support for small local businesses.
FERA participates in the project in a dual role, as financial partner, to supplement the funds granted to COOPI by the European Union (80% of the total value of the project), and as design partner for the construction of a wind and solar power hybrid system and of solar wells equipped with photovoltaic panels.
